CAPTURING LIFE
The days of being a young mother, with babies filling your bed and your heart, are heavenly. Those wonderous years when you feel as though you are in a cocoon with your children are a gift. And in those moments, the most important thing is to be present.
But though they are long, they are also fleeting. And one day, you will look back with longing. In those bittersweet moments, the memories of the cocoon you were in with your baby will fill your cup with joy.
And then the toddlers stage arrives. Toddlers are perhaps the truest reflection of life itself, the ability to talk, walk, interact, but with utterly no self-awareness. Toddlers will fill your home with chaos, but also with deep, long cuddles. Chaotic bundles of love discovering life.
It will be fast, it will be furious. And in your final years, the toddler years are the stuff of memories that will make you laugh long into the night.
When your babies slowly become adults, in those teenage years, you will be torn between wanting them to grow but also wanting them to stay with you forever. It is bittersweet to walk side by side someone whose hand you held for so long. Pride and wonder take over trepidation and soon watching your child walk out into the world will be the proudest moments of your life.
We need to live in these moments, always live in the moment. But also save this stuff. Save it for later, store it away, so we can drink from this cup whenever we need, all throughout life.
The stories, the bloopers, the joys and the trials need to be captured. Take photos and videos and keep drawings and scribbles. For you are the keeper of this history.
And when you are older, and your days are shorter, you will look back, flick the pages, and remember.
Let us help you keep these memories. www.theuntoldstory.com.au
